Eleanor Blessing

Former owner of Blessing Mills and the sole remaining descendent of the founder of Blessing Mills: Zebulon Spencer Blessing. One of Hawboro's most prominent citizens, Eleanor serves on the Board of Trustees of Zebulon College. She resides in her family's stately home, Asterdale. The Blessing Family Tree (click here).

Current Mayor of Hawboro and the owner of Links “Low and Slow” BBQ, Felton is Hawboro’s BBQ King. An avid angler, Felton spends his free time fishing in the Haw or supporting Zebulon College athletics. He is the Zebras’ number one fan! In 2017, Felton joined many other Hawboro locals, Zebulon College students, and artists from the Seismic Performance Factory to create a play about the history of Hawboro.

Dr. Bonnie Lee Abernathy

President of Zebulon College since 2005, Dr. Abernathy was instrumental in elevating Zebulon College Men’s Basketball to Division I and constructing the Blessing Dome. Go Zebras! Under her leadership, Zebulon saw a 30% increase in average SAT scores and an expanded global reach, attracting international students from all over the world.
